Members of the People Power Party, including Chairman Jang Dong-hyuk and Floor Leader Song Eon-seok, are observing a moment of silence at a memorial altar set up near the main gate of the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, on the 13th, to mourn civil servant A in Yangpyeong County, Gyeonggi Province, who was found dead after being summoned for investigation by the Min Jung-ki Special Prosecutor's Office. Yonhap News.
The People Power Party set up a memorial altar at the National Assembly on the 13th to mourn the death of a Yangpyeong County civil servant who was under investigation by the Min Jung-ki Special Prosecutor's Office regarding allegations concerning First Lady Kim Keon-hee, and held a group mourning ceremony.
All members of the People Power Party moved together to the memorial altar set up within the National Assembly after concluding a general meeting of lawmakers on the morning of the 13th, where they offered flowers and observed a moment of silence to honor the deceased.
The People Power Party had a dispute with the Secretariat of the National Assembly the previous day, which had refused the installation of the memorial altar within the Assembly. However, on the morning of the 13th, they set up the altar in front of the Haechi statue near the central main gate of the National Assembly, and proceeded with the group mourning ceremony under the observation of Secretariat staff.
After the mourning, Chairman Jang Dong-hyuk wrote in the guest book, "We will surely reveal the truth about the murderous special prosecutor's investigation." Floor Leader Song Eon-seok wrote, "We pray for the repose of the late head of the town office, who passed away due to coercive investigation."
The leadership of the People Power Party decided to act as hosts at the memorial altar to receive mourners and will assign teams by standing committee to guard the altar for two days until the 14th.
Floor Leader Song told reporters, "We express regret that the installation of the memorial altar was arbitrarily blocked," adding, "We hope there will be no forced demolition by the Secretariat of the National Assembly. It is appropriate to voluntarily dismantle the altar once the funeral is held."

On this day, the People Power Party decided at their general meeting to soon propose a bill to their party platform, titled the "Special Prosecutor Law to Investigate the Murderous Investigation of Min Jung-ki Special Prosecutor."
In his opening remarks at the general meeting, Floor Leader Song stated, "We must uncover the truth about the violent investigation conducted with the murderer's tactics by the special prosecutor. The only way to investigate this is to investigate the special prosecutor himself," adding, "We intend to propose a special prosecutor law as our party's platform to resolve the deceased's unfairness."
He told reporters in front of the memorial altar, "Although it will be difficult to pass the bill on our own as we do not have a majority, the Speaker of the National Assembly and the Democratic Party will also consider the fact that an innocent life was sacrificed as a result of the special prosecutor's oppressive investigation tactics. Since this is a case of fundamental human rights violation, we will persuade them that a special prosecutor is absolutely necessary."
He continued, "Last time, a special prosecutor bill was passed for a case where one soldier was sacrificed during a search operation for victims of flooding, with various other circumstances involved. Just as Sergeant Chae's life is precious, the life of the town office head is also very precious," adding, "We must pass the special prosecutor law to investigate the special prosecutor."
Before the general meeting, People Power Party lawmakers observed a moment of silence to mourn the deceased and held up signs with slogans such as "Disband the fabricated investigation special prosecutor" and "Immediately disband the murderous special prosecutor," while shouting condemnation slogans.
Meanwhile, the People Power Party announced that they will establish and operate a "Presidential Office's First Department Citizen Reporting Center (headed by Kim Hyun-ji)" and a "Special Prosecutor's Coercive Investigation Citizen Reporting Center" during the National Assembly audit period.
