Striker Cho Gue-sung (Midtjylland) put on a stellar performance, playing his first full match since returning from a knee injury in August and scoring his fourth goal of the season.
On the 26th (local time), Cho Gue-sung scored the second goal in the 34th minute of the first half, extending the lead to 2-0 against Fredericia in the 13th round of the 2025-2026 Danish Superliga, held at Monjasa Park in Fredericia, Denmark.
Midtjylland, with four players finding the back of the net including Cho Gue-sung, defeated Fredericia 4-0, extending their unbeaten streak to five consecutive matches (4 wins, 1 draw), including two recent wins, and solidifying their second place (28 points). They are two points behind league leaders AGF (30 points).
Cho Gue-sung, who started as an attacking midfielder in Midtjylland's 3-4-2-1 formation, pushed deep into the opponent's territory from the early stages of the first half, seeking scoring opportunities.
In the 29th minute of the first half, Midtjylland took the lead when Franculino Djuo connected with a low cross from Denil Castillo, who broke through on the right flank, with a right-footed, first-time shot from the edge of the penalty area.
Cho Gue-sung took over the scoring baton in the 34th minute of the first half.
Castillo's cross from the right-central area found Cho Gue-sung near the left front of the goal area. He shook off a defender and found the back of the net with a right-footed volley. It was a "one shot, one kill" goal from his very first attempt.
After scoring his first goal of the season in the 3rd round of the 2025-2026 Danish Cup on September 18th, Cho Gue-sung announced his resurgence by scoring in consecutive regular league matches in rounds 9 and 10 last month, marking three consecutive goals in official matches.
After a goal drought in rounds 11-12, he revitalized his scoring touch with his fourth goal of the season (three in the league, one in the cup) on this day.
Midtjylland, which finished the first half with a 2-0 lead, completed the 4-0 rout with a decisive goal from Mikkel Gorsuch in the 5th minute of the second half and a final goal from Junior Brumado in the 8th minute of the second half.
Cho Gue-sung proved his complete recovery from injury by playing his first full match since returning to the field on August 17th, in the away game against Vejle in the 5th round of the 2025-2026 Danish Superliga. This was his first full game in a year and three months.
In addition, Lee Han-beom, who started as a center-back in a back three formation, also played the full match, contributing to Midtjylland's clean sheet. Yonhap News
