In a Q&A session with reporters aboard his private plane, Air Force One, on the 26th, President Trump said, "Some people thought it would be difficult for President Milei to win, but he not only won but won by a large margin," and conveyed his congratulatory message to President Milei, reiterating his strong support for the Argentine government.

In the Argentine midterm elections held the previous day, 24 senators (one-third of the total 72) and 127 deputies (about half of the total 257) were elected. Local media reported that Milei's ruling coalition achieved an unexpected victory, winning 14 Senate seats and 64 Deputy seats with a total vote share of 40%.

In a TV interview on the morning of the 27th, President Milei emphasized the victory in Buenos Aires Province, a stronghold of the opposition Peronist Party, saying, "No one even thought it was possible."

The local daily Clarín quoted a senior government official as saying that just a week before the election, some top staff members had predicted that President Milei's side could lose by a margin of up to 5 percentage points. However, the actual election results were a ruling party victory that exceeded expectations, and the ruling party also won in Buenos Aires Province, where they had lost by a 13 percentage point margin in local elections 50 days prior, surprising experts, the media reported.

The ruling party's victory this time came amidst a series of adverse circumstances.

The ruling party's approval ratings had declined due to allegations of corruption against Karina Milei, the President's sister and Chief of Staff, sluggish domestic economy, defeat in local elections, and scandals involving deputy candidates.

The Trump administration provided unprecedented support to the Milei government before the election, including a $20 billion currency swap, $20 billion in private fund creation, and the purchase of 2.1 billion pesos (approximately 3 trillion won) worth of currency. However, it attached a condition that if they lost the midterm elections, they could not promise support.

Experts point to "anti-Kirchnerism" as a factor in the ruling party's victory, in addition to the Trump administration's support.

Kirchnerism is a political movement within Peronism that began during the presidency of former President Néstor Kirchner (2003-2007) and was established during the tenure of his wife, former President Cristina Fernández (2007-2015).

In the midterm elections, the ruling Liberty Advance Party highlighted political ideological conflict by campaigning with the slogan "Kirchnerism Never Again."

In his victory speech, President Milei thanked his supporters, saying, "The Argentine people do not want to return to a failed model."
