Park Sung-hoon, a member of the People Power Party. Provided by the office of Assemblyman Park Sung-hoon.
Regarding the South Korea-China summit, the People Power Party stated on the 1st, "There were no tangible achievements or progress on the core issues of South Korea-China relations, such as the lifting of the Hallyu ban and the removal of artificial structures in the West Sea, which were of real importance."
In a commentary that day, Senior Spokesperson Park Sung-hoon said, "While there were some achievements, such as cooperation in combating voice phishing and online fraud, and the extension of the South Korea-China currency swap, it was a summit without concrete outcomes as it failed to resolve the immediate pressing issues."
He criticized, "For the 'national interest-oriented practical diplomacy' advocated by the Lee Jae-myung administration to be truly practical, it must create tangible changes and diplomatic results that the public can feel, rather than empty rhetoric. We cannot call a summit that remained silent on realistic issues like the Hallyu ban 'restoration of relations'."
He continued, "At a time when North Korea publicly rebuked the denuclearization discussions of the South Korea-China summit just yesterday, evaluating 'North Korea-China exchanges positively' and talking about 'resuming dialogue with North Korea' is excessively optimistic and complacent."
He emphasized, "In times like these, the center of South Korea's diplomacy must firmly stand on the solid ROK-US alliance, and the restoration of cooperation between South Korea and Japan and the strengthening of the security cooperation framework must be pursued simultaneously. The conclusion of an ROK-US currency swap, which has a tangible market stabilization effect, should take precedence over the extension of the South Korea-China currency swap, which has clear limitations."
