People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyuk speaks at a supreme council meeting held at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul on the 3rd. Yonhap News.
People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyuk stated on the 3rd regarding President Lee Jae-myung's trial that "the trial must resume today."
At the supreme council meeting held at the National Assembly on the same day, Jang said, "If the trial does not resume, the Democratic Party will incessantly insult the judiciary to oust the Chief Justice," and made the aforementioned statement.
He argued, "The Democratic Party will create a 'law distortion crime' to intimidate judges into not ruling on Lee Jae-myung's case, and will increase the number of Supreme Court justices to create a Lee Jae-myung court. Ultimately, the judiciary will sell its soul to Lee Jae-myung."
He then mentioned the names of the judges presiding over President Lee's case and repeatedly raised his voice, saying, "Even tomorrow is too late. The trial for Lee Jae-myung must resume today."
Regarding the South Korea-US tariff negotiations, which were agreed upon during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Gyeongju, he criticized it as "the practical diplomacy of the Lee Jae-myung administration, which lacks even an agreement document or joint statement, and omits everything, resulting in a blank slate diplomacy."
He continued, "Practical diplomacy should not be a tool to deceive the public and make convenient excuses. True practical diplomacy must be proven by results that secure national interests and tangible benefits."
He then claimed, "It is clear that the administration and the Democratic Party intend to enact a special law rather than seek parliamentary ratification for the South Korea-US tariff negotiations. This is an intention to slyly include undisclosed side agreements and bundle them as a package deal."
Floor Leader Song Eon-seok also stated regarding the tariff negotiations, "The curtain has fallen on brilliant international diplomacy, and now the time for truth has arrived. Reveal the contents of the tariff negotiations, which involved national interests, clearly to the public."
He added, "We urge you to ensure the process goes through parliamentary ratification and receives the public's consent and verification. We call on President Lee to personally address this issue to the public."
