The long-running traditional music program "Gayo Stage" will present a performance by national singer Lee Mi-ja to viewers in celebration of its 40th anniversary.
KBS announced that it will air the "Gayo Stage 40th Anniversary Special" on 1TV on the 3rd.
"Queen of Elegy" Lee Mi-ja will appear on the broadcast to perform two songs, including "Dongbaek Agassi" (Camellia Girl). Her daughter, Jung Jae-eun, will also take the KBS stage for the first time in 12 years to perform "Sam-baek Ri Han-ryeo Su-do" and "Hanggu" (Harbor).
Lee Mi-ja stated, "'Gayo Stage' has provided a platform for junior artists to grow over four decades. I am very grateful," adding, "I hope it continues for 100 years to foster many new talents."
Other performers on the special include Yoon Hang-gi, Seo Yu-seok, Kim Guk-hwan, Oh Seung-geun, Kim Su-hee, Noh Sa-yeon, Choi Jin-hee, Seol Woon-do, Kim Yeon-ja, Jo Hang-jo, Jin Sung, Joo Hyun-mi, Jung Jae-eun, Joo Byung-sun, Park Hye-shin, Park Gu-yun, Kang Moon-kyung, Ahn Sung-hoon, Yang Ji-eun, Kim Yong-bin, Ryu Won-jeong, Bae Ah-hyun, and Jung Seo-ju.
Announcer Kim Dong-geon will host the program, showcasing his seasoned rapport with the veteran singers.
For this 40th-anniversary special, dispatched workers and their families who attended "Gayo Stage" at the Great Man-Made River site in Libya 40 years ago have also been invited.
The broadcast will air for two hours starting at 10 PM.
