The National Movement Headquarters to Right Korea (Daegukbon) held the ‘Gwanghwamun National Rally’ at 1 PM on November 1st (KST) in front of the Donghwa Duty Free Shop in Gwanghwamun, Seoul. They rallied for ▲ the need for public verification surrounding Chief of Staff Kim Hyun-ji ▲ the opacity of ROK-US diplomatic issues and policies ▲ biased issues in education ▲ concerns over external propaganda similar to the current administration’s rhetoric ▲ and the spread of support for former President Yoon Suk-yeol.
Chairman Jeon Kwang-hoon stated, "The destiny of our people changes depending on who we meet," emphasizing that "the Republic of Korea was established because we met Presidents Syngman Rhee and Park Chung-hee well."
Chairman Jeon expressed, "Former President Yoon Suk-yeol will surely return, and I am confident that a just verdict will be rendered soon." He then appealed, "Now is the time for the people to rise up, not to despair, and to rebuild the Republic of Korea with the values of faith and freedom."
Kim Soo-yeol, CEO of the National Security Civic Group Federation, criticized, "There are many points being raised that South Korean national interests are being excluded from recent ROK-US agreements and plans for nuclear submarine construction." He added, "Unilateral decisions and the withholding of information only breed public distrust." Furthermore, he stated, "Along with judicial judgment regarding the Daejang-dong trial, a thorough verification of public officials is necessary."
During the Freedom Unification Party's segment, the Patriot Right Wing Alliance of Guri and Namyangju declared, "We are a civic alliance fighting to protect the free Republic of Korea," and vowed to "resist to the end to restore truth and justice in areas dominated by biased political forces."
Next, a 3rd-year middle school student from the Patriot Right Wing Alliance of Guri and Namyangju, who took the stage, criticized, "The achievements of Presidents Syngman Rhee and Park Chung-hee are not adequately covered in textbooks, and are instead described in a negatively distorted manner." He continued, "The reality of not being able to learn historical facts as they are prevents the instillation of a proper national perspective in students." He emphasized, "With political bias now infiltrating educational sites, it is time for teenagers like us to spread the truth and take action," vowing to "become a generation that defends freedom without remaining silent any longer."
Professor Emeritus Kim Hak-sung of Kangwon National University pointed out, "Suspicions of political and economic connections beyond a simple working relationship are continuously being raised between President Lee Jae-myung and Chief of Staff Kim Hyun-ji."
Professor Kim claimed, "Despite Ms. Kim Hyun-ji holding a key position in the Presidential Office, complex allegations such as Daejang-dong related real estate issues, the leakage of personnel information, and involvement in Lee Hwa-young's illegal remittances to North Korea remain unresolved."
He further added, "Since the personnel verification of public officials and their potential collusion with the political sphere are issues directly linked to the morality of the administration, objective and transparent investigations must precede."
Professor Lee Dong-ho argued, "There is an interpretation that President Lee Jae-myung's remarks at the 3rd anniversary memorial of the Itaewon disaster, stating 'there was no state that day,' bear a similar message to directives known to have been sent by North Korea to pro-North Korean organizations within South Korea in the past." He asserted, "This carries political implications beyond mere remarks."
Professor Lee stated, "The North Korean directive contained instructions to utilize the Itaewon disaster for political agitation, similar to the Sewol ferry incident, and there is room for interpretation that the message from key figures in the current administration aligns with this." He urged, "The political sphere must reflect on its actions of using the lives of the people as tools for political attack."
An estimated 100,000 citizens, according to the organizers, filled Gwanghwamun Square for the Gwanghwamun National Rally. The march began at 3:50 PM immediately after the rally. The urban march, starting from Donghwa Duty Free Shop and proceeding through Jonggak - Jongno 2-ga - Euljiro 2-ga - Euljiro Entrance - Seoul City Hall - Deoksugung Palace, and returning to Donghwa Duty Free Shop, proceeded peacefully. The march route was extended compared to previous events, demonstrating the firm resolve of the participants.
