It has recently and belatedly come to light that "Anti-Communism Week" was declared by presidential decree in the United States last week. 

White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre posted President Donald Trump's proclamation on X on Monday, the 10th.

The proclamation states that the week of November 2-8, 2025, is to be observed as Anti-Communism Week. However, when Jean-Pierre shared the proclamation on X on Monday, she introduced it as "Anti-Communism Week 2025."

The White House website indicates the proclamation was made on Friday, the 7th. Given that Jean-Pierre shared it on the 10th, there is speculation that Anti-Communism Week may have been set for November 9-15.

This week, our Nation solemnly remembers the atrocities brought about by one of the most destructive ideologies in history during Anti-Communism Week. Across continents and generations, communism has wrought devastation upon nations and souls. Regimes that sought to extinguish faith, suppress liberty, and destroy hard-won prosperity have trampled upon the God-given rights and dignity of the oppressed, claiming over a hundred million lives. We honor their memory and recommit ourselves to standing firm against communism, to defending freedom and human value, and to reaffirming that no system of government can substitute for the will and conscience of free people.

For over a century, communism has brought only ruin. Wherever it has spread, it has silenced opposition, punished belief, and forced generations to bow before the power of the State instead of rising up for their freedom. Its history has been written in blood and sorrow, a stark reminder that communism is merely another word for slavery.

For thirty-four years since the end of the Cold War, the world has witnessed not only the triumph of democracy but also the persistence of tyranny in new forms. Now, new voices repeat the old lies, cloaking them in the language of "social justice" and "democratic socialism," but their message is the same: Forsake freedom and trust in the power of government; trade the promise of prosperity for the hollow comfort of control. America rejects this wicked doctrine. We will remain a nation founded upon the eternal truth that freedom and opportunity are the birthright of all, and that no ideology—foreign or domestic—can extinguish them.

During Anti-Communism Week, we stand united in defense of the values that define us as a free people. We honor the victims of oppression, carry forward their cause, and will ensure that communism and all regimes that deny the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are buried forever in the dustbin of history.

Therefore, I, Donald J. Trump, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim November 2 through November 8, 2025, as Anti-Communism Week.
