North Korea's drone provocations on September 4 last year... must be prepared for consequences
The People Power Party stated on the 10th, in response to North Korea's claims of drone infiltration into South Korea, that "this incident has reaffirmed not only the Lee Jae-myung administration's inconsistent security perspective but also their tendency to drag national security into political disputes."
In a statement, Senior Spokesperson Park Sung-hoon argued, "If we follow the Democratic Party's logic that the previous administration provoked a South Korean drone attack to create justification for martial law, then President Lee Jae-myung would also be subject to investigation and trial for espionage."
He assessed, "North Korea's assertion of sovereignty violation, while repeatedly engaging in provocations like launching ballistic missiles and advancing nuclear capabilities, is akin to a reversal of roles. North Korea suddenly acting as a victim to heighten threats is a deflection of responsibility and a propaganda offensive for internal unity."
He added, "National security is not a political tool. The Lee Jae-myung administration should reassure the public not through begging for dialogue with North Korea or engaging in sham peace shows, but by establishing a firm and consistent stance."
Spokesperson Cho Yong-sul also pointed out in his statement, "North Korea is exhibiting an irrational attitude, glorifying its own belligerent military actions while engaging in large-scale propaganda against our military's drone operations and becoming enraged."
He criticized the administration, saying, "Is our military's drone operation a security act when we do it, but an espionage charge when others do it? This is a clear case of 'what I do is right, but what others do is wrong' security perspective."
Earlier, North Korea claimed on the same day that South Korea had infiltrated and shot down its drones in September last year and on the 4th of this month. The Ministry of National Defense stated, "This is entirely untrue."
