It has been reported that the People Power Party's Central Ethics Committee has initiated disciplinary proceedings against Representative Bae Hyun-jung, who is considered to be in the pro-Kim faction, as of the 7th.
The Central Ethics Committee held a meeting the previous day, chaired by Central Ethics Committee Chairman Yoon Min-woo, to discuss the disciplinary matter concerning Representative Bae.
The Central Ethics Committee subsequently resolved to initiate disciplinary proceedings against Representative Bae, and she is expected to be notified of the relevant details soon.
Representative Bae was reportedly filed with the Ethics Committee on the 30th of last month.
Lee Sang-gyu, the party's regional chapter chairman for Seongbuk-B and a member of the party leadership faction, stated on Facebook on the same day, "I filed the complaint against Bae Hyun-jung, the Seoul City Chapter Chairperson, due to issues concerning the Seoul City Chapter's private affairs."
He refuted claims that the party leadership had ordered the filing, stating, "The assertion that the filing was made under the direction of the leadership, including Jang Dong-hyuk, or Dr. Ko Sung-gook, is false."
Meanwhile, as the Seoul City Chapter Ethics Committee has begun disciplinary proceedings against Ko Sung-gook, a conservative YouTuber and party member, Lee Yong-ho, the regional chapter chairman for Seodaemun-A and the former chairman of the city chapter's ethics committee, has resigned.
He reportedly submitted his resignation on the 30th of last month and conveyed his intent for the successor ethics committee chairman to decide whether to initiate disciplinary action against Ko.
Chairperson Bae Hyun-jung appointed Kim Kyung-jin, the regional chapter chairman for Dongdaemun-B and a member of the pro-Kim faction, as the new city chapter ethics committee chairman.
Previously, 10 People Power Party lawmakers filed a complaint with the ethics committee against Ko, citing "breach of dignity," for suggesting that a portrait of the late former President Chun Doo-hwan be displayed at the party headquarters.
