Jeff Johnson, a Republican candidate for Minnesota governor, suspended his campaign after his daughter was found stabbed to death last weekend.

According to People, Hallie Marie Tobler, 22, was discovered by St. Cloud City police officers responding to a medical emergency call at her residence on Saturday, found in a locked apartment.

Police said her husband, Dylan Michael Tobler, 23, was found alive at their home with stab wounds, which police believe he inflicted on himself.

He is currently in stable condition at St. Cloud Hospital under police custody and is expected to be transferred to jail soon and charged with the murder of his wife.

The Minnesota Republican Party said in a statement on Monday, "Words cannot express the sorrow we feel for Jeff and his family." "Losing a child is an unimaginable pain, and we offer our deepest condolences to them as they grieve this horrific tragedy."
