President Trump answers questions from reporters [EPA=Yonhap News]
The Trump administration announced on the 13th (local time) that it has provided emergency medical supplies to Venezuela.
This move is also interpreted as the United States, which has strengthened cooperation with the interim government since the arrest of President Nicolás Maduro, is now actively supporting Venezuela and expanding its influence within the Western Hemisphere.
The U.S. State Department stated on the same day, "Following President Trump's directive, we have airlifted priority medical supplies totaling over 25 pallets (more than 6,000 kg) as an initial shipment to the Venezuelan people."
The State Department conveyed that the Venezuelan interim government plans to distribute these supplies to citizens requiring urgent medical treatment.
Regarding this, the State Department declared, "This is the first shipment in a large-scale effort to deliver a substantial volume of emergency medical supplies to Venezuela."
It also added, "This is a practice of 'America First' foreign aid," and stated, "We will continue to provide swift and stable support in our hemisphere (Western Hemisphere), ensuring clear results and full accountability for U.S. taxpayers."
President Trump had pledged to rebuild Venezuela's oil industry after a surprise military operation on the 3rd of last month led to the arrest and extradition of President Maduro to the United States.
When asked by reporters at the White House about Venezuela on the same day, President Trump said, "We are cooperating very closely," adding, "The relationship with Venezuela is currently the best it can possibly be."
Regarding his intention to visit Venezuela in the future, he replied, "I will visit Venezuela," but did not disclose specific details about the schedule.
