Early voting for Texas state and federal primary elections began on Tuesday, the 17th.
The most highly anticipated race is expected to be the re-election bid of incumbent Republican Senator John Cornyn, who is facing challenges from Attorney General Ken Paxton and U.S. Representative Wesley Hunt.
On the Democratic side, U.S. Representative Jasmine Crockett and State Representative James Talarico are competing for their party's nomination.
Voters will also cast ballots in elections for governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, state legislature seats, various statewide judicial positions, and the U.S. House of Representatives.
The primary election day is March 3, and the early voting period concludes on February 27.
If no candidate secures more than 50% of the vote, a runoff election will be held. The two candidates with the most votes in the primary will face off in a runoff on May 26.
Primary elections in Arkansas and North Carolina will also take place on March 3. These three states are among those holding the earliest primary elections in the nation.
Early voting in Arkansas began on Monday the 16th and will continue through March 2. If no candidate receives more than 50% of the vote, the runoff will be held on March 31.
In North Carolina, early voting began on Thursday the 12th and will run through February 28. The runoff election is scheduled for May 12.
