Reiterating Justification for Attack... Urging Iranian Military/Police to 'Surrender', and Citizens to 'Reclaim Their Country'
President Donald Trump of the United States [Palm Beach AFP=Yonhap News]
U.S. President Donald Trump stated on the 1st (local time) that the military strike against Iran "will continue until all of our objectives are achieved."
In a 6-minute video speech posted on his social media platform Truth Social on this day, President Trump said, "The current combat operations are proceeding with full force."
This is the second time President Trump has officially delivered a speech in person since the commencement of the attack on Iran. President Trump had previously posted his first speech video around 2:30 AM (Eastern Time) the previous day, immediately after the attack began.
President Trump expressed his condolences regarding the deaths of three U.S. soldiers during the military operation and said, "Unfortunately, there will be more casualties before this is over."
He added, "There will be more casualties, but we will do everything we can to prevent that from happening."
President Trump then stated, "America will avenge their deaths and deliver the harshest blow to the terrorists who have been waging war against civilization."
President Trump cited the two-day joint operation by the U.S. and Israel, which resulted in the elimination of top Iranian leadership, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei (86), and the complete destruction of nine Iranian warships and naval headquarters.
He described the "Epic Fury" operation, which took place over the last 36 hours, as "one of the largest, most complex, and overwhelming military attacks the world has ever witnessed," adding, "We have struck hundreds of targets in Iran, including Revolutionary Guard facilities and air defense systems."
He strongly criticized the deceased Khamenei, stating, "This wicked and vile man had the blood of hundreds, even thousands, of Americans on his hands and was responsible for the massacre of thousands of innocent people in numerous countries."
President Trump further said, "The entire military command has been wiped out, and many of them are seeking surrender to save their lives."
President Trump reiterated the justification for the attack, stating, "The Iranian regime, armed with long-range missiles and nuclear weapons, can pose a terrible threat to all Americans. We cannot allow a country that cultivates terrorist armies to possess such weapons and extort the world with malicious intent."
He emphasized that this operation is for future generations and is the duty and responsibility of free people, stating, "These actions are right and necessary to ensure that Americans never have to confront a radical and brutal regime armed with nuclear weapons and countless threats."
President Trump also demanded that Iranian military and police lay down their arms and surrender, threatening that they would "face certain death" if they did not.
Addressing the Iranian people, he urged them to "seize this moment, be brave and bold, and heroically come forward to reclaim your country." He added, "America is with you. I have made a promise, and I have kept that promise. The rest is up to you, but we will help."
