U.S. President Donald Trump vowed on Thursday (local time) to continue attacks on Iran until all American military objectives are achieved. He warned that more casualties would result from this combat operation.
In a 6-minute video posted on social media on Thursday afternoon, President Trump said, "Over the last 36 hours, the United States and its allies have launched 'Operation Epic Fury.'" He added, "We have struck hundreds of targets in Iran, including facilities of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Iranian broadcasting system. We have just announced the destruction of nine Iranian ships and naval bases."
He stated that the deceased Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was "responsible for the deaths of countless innocent people across many nations," and that "many citizens took to the streets to celebrate upon the announcement of his death."
President Trump added, "The entire military command has been replaced, and many of them wish to surrender. The combat operations are now continuing in full force and will continue until all our objectives are achieved."
In an interview with CNN, he reported that U.S. forces concentrated 30 missiles on a security zone where Khamenei primarily resided. At that time, Khamenei and 48 members of the Iranian leadership were gathered for a meeting and were all killed in the explosion.
On Monday (2nd), Secretary of War Pete Hegses explained that the objective of the joint airstrikes with Israel on Iran was "to destroy Iran's missile systems and navy and to end the development of nuclear weapons," and stated that it was not for "regime change."
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Kain emphasized that the U.S. mission is to "protect and defend" the United States and its allies. He said, "This was a massive destruction operation designed to confuse people and to disorient their minds."
President Trump also conveyed news from the Central Command that three fatalities had occurred so far. He said, "We continue to carry on the righteous mission they defended with their lives, and we wish for the speedy recovery of the injured and extend our deepest love and eternal gratitude to the families of the fallen."
He added, "Unfortunately, there will be more fatalities before this is over. However, we will take every possible measure to prevent that from happening."
President Trump designated Iran as a terrorist state and vowed thorough destruction, stating that they have "waged war against civilization."
He said, "The Iranian regime, armed with long-range missiles and nuclear weapons, will pose a serious threat to all Americans. We cannot allow a country that nurtures terrorist organizations to possess such weapons."
President Trump stated that the United States possesses the most powerful military in the world, saying, "We are now using that military power for good. We want it for a good purpose."
He added that the large-scale military operation is "not only to secure the security of our generation and our time, but also for our children and their children."
President Trump urged the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and police "once again to lay down their weapons and receive full immunity, or face certain death."
He also urged the Iranian people to "seize this moment and act bravely, boldly, and heroically to reclaim your homeland. The United States stands with you. I made you a promise, and I kept that promise. The rest is up to you, but we are ready to help at any time."
