North Korea fires more than 10 ballistic missiles [Yonhap News]
The U.S. Indo-Pacific Command stated on the 14th (local time) regarding North Korea's ballistic missile launch into the East Sea that "we are aware of the missile launch and are consulting closely with our allies and partners."
In a statement released today, the Indo-Pacific Command said, "Our initial assessment is that this event does not pose an immediate threat to U.S. personnel or territory, or to our allies."
It added, "The United States is committed to defending the homeland and our allies in the region."
North Korea launched more than 10 ballistic missiles into the East Sea around 1:20 PM KST today. South Korean and U.S. intelligence authorities are reportedly analyzing the possibility that North Korea fired its 600mm super-large multiple rocket launcher (KN-25), which it also fired on January 27th.
Today's ballistic missile launch by North Korea marks the first in 47 days and the third this year. Firing more than 10 missiles at once is unusual and is interpreted as a show of force.
