In addition, subpoenas were also issued to eight former high-ranking law enforcement officials, including Merrick Garland, who served as Attorney General during the previous Joe Biden administration, and James Comey, who was dismissed after serving as Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) during Trump's first term.

Epstein, a former "financial mogul" with connections to influential figures, was arrested on charges of sex trafficking minors and died by suicide in prison in 2019.
