Former U.S. Ambassador-at-Large Morse H. Tan (Korean name: Dan Hyun-myeong) has made an extremely strong statement asserting that President Yoon Suk-yeol should be reinstated after the United Nations Command (UNC) issues a DEFCON alert. 

Morse Tan, who visited Korea last year during the June 3 early presidential election as part of an international election monitoring group, recently appeared on the popular American podcast "The John Batchelor Show" and expressed his opinion, stating, "The United States, which has maintained command authority over the Korean UNC, must declare martial law and remove Lee Jae-myung." 

The UNC was established during the Korean War in 1950 and has since served as the core pillar for maintaining the armistice regime and defense on the Korean Peninsula. The Commander of the UNC concurrently serves as the Commander of the U.S. Forces Korea. 

When asked by his co-guest, attorney Gordon Chang, "What measures should the United States take in this situation?", former Ambassador Tan responded, "The United States must recognize that President Yoon Suk-yeol, the legitimate president of South Korea, has been sentenced to life imprisonment." He added, "What the United States can do is to issue a DEFCON alert, declare martial law, remove Lee Jae-myung, and then reinstate President Yoon." 

He further suggested, "Through this, we can play a very active role in effectively restoring the ROK-U.S. alliance, ending the division of the Korean Peninsula, and leading to unification." 

He stated, "The United States must understand that South Korea is not a pro-American regime but a pro-North Korean, anti-American regime, as evidenced by their non-participation when the U.S. and Japan conducted joint exercises in the West Sea." He continued, "Gordon, you and I have already thoroughly investigated this point and have seen countless indicators in line with it." 

When asked by the host whether Lee Jae-myung is pursuing personal gain or ideology, former Ambassador Tan directly stated, "Given that he has been found guilty in 5 lawsuits out of 12 charges, Lee Jae-myung is consolidating power and heading towards communist dictatorship." 

He remarked, "He wants to unify with North Korea, a system that has failed miserably, and is pushing the ROK-U.S. alliance to the brink." He added, "The sooner the U.S. government realizes this, the better." 

When asked about how Koreans perceive this issue, former Ambassador Tan expressed his concern, saying, "Most Koreans are very surprised and are witnessing their rights and freedoms disappear before their eyes." He added, "They are also watching themselves being further oppressed." 

He continued, "They are very surprised and concerned to see outstanding Korean leaders being imprisoned and are imploring for American help." He stated his view, "Koreans overwhelmingly hope for a strong relationship between the ROK and the U.S., and I believe they recognize the various threats coming from North Korea, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), and the puppet governments directly connected to them." 

When asked if the U.S. Department of State's Korea desk is aware of these issues, he said, "While I cannot be absolutely certain, I can somewhat understand that parts of the U.S. government are aware of some aspects, but I cannot definitively say that the U.S. government as a whole has a clear grasp of the situation." 

Earlier, when the host compared the recent ROK-U.S. atmosphere to a "puzzle," former Ambassador Tan stated, "There are many more puzzle pieces to prove that the illegitimate Lee Jae-myung regime is pro-North Korea and anti-U.S., and we can present many more examples." He pointed out, "The fake president Lee Jae-myung celebrated the defeat of foreign forces in the Vietnam War, called U.S. troops occupying forces, and there is even a Prime Minister who tells South Koreans that the U.S. is South Korea's 14th autonomous region." 

He further claimed, "There is a fake president accused of sending bribes to North Korea, and two of his close aides from his time as Governor of Gyeonggi Province have been convicted in the same case." He asserted, "Lee Jae-myung dismissed numerous prosecutors who investigated him, filed four different lawsuits, disarmed soldiers in the demilitarized zone, relieved high-ranking South Korean generals, and even dissolved the counter-espionage command." 

He added, "About 90% of Koreans consider the United States their most important ally, and all kinds of signs of electoral fraud indicate that he is not the president chosen by the Korean people." He concluded, "The fact that he is an illegitimate president and a pro-North Korean, anti-U.S. president has been proven in many ways."
