Ambassador Mossadeg enters Incheon International Airport on May 28.

A court hearing was held on the afternoon of the 2nd regarding former International Criminal Justice Ambassador Mossadeg (Korean name: Dan Hyun-myung, currently a professor at Liberty University in the U.S.), who requested the court to cancel the Ministry of Justice's travel ban.

Ambassador Deg filed a lawsuit against the Minister of Justice at the Seoul Administrative Court on the 1st to revoke the travel ban and requested an injunction, after being subjected to a travel ban for allegedly defaming Lee Jae-myung.

He did not attend the hearing on this day, but through his legal representatives, he requested, "The general freedom of movement is a right guaranteed by the Constitution," and asked for the travel ban to be suspended.

Lee Ha-sang, the lawyer representing Professor Deg, argued, "This measure has substantive and procedural flaws and will cause irreparable harm."

In response, the Ministry of Justice countered, stating, "Although he claims the need to travel for lectures in the U.S., he has not provided proof of the specific purpose of his travel, such as which lectures he plans to give," and argued that the travel ban should be maintained.

Then, lawyer Lee Ha-sang responded, "To claim that this can be restricted because there is no specific substantiation (regarding the purpose of travel) is an anti-constitutional argument," and added, "If necessary, we will submit supporting documents."

Meanwhile, the hearing for Ambassador Deg's lawsuit to cancel the travel ban is scheduled for the 10th.

Former International Criminal Justice Ambassador Mossadeg (Korean name: Dan Hyun-myung, currently a professor at Liberty University in the U.S.) has filed an administrative lawsuit against the Ministry of Justice's travel ban.

Ambassador Deg filed a lawsuit against the Minister of Justice at the Seoul Administrative Court on the 1st to revoke the travel ban and requested an injunction.

The police, citing concerns of escape as Ambassador Deg did not respond to summons, applied for a travel ban from the Ministry of Justice on that day. A travel ban refers to a measure to prohibit foreigners from leaving the country.

Ambassador Deg, who served as the State Department's International Criminal Justice Ambassador during the first Trump administration in the U.S., was accused of defamation for remarks suggesting that Lee Jae-myung was involved in a murder case during his youth and was incarcerated in a juvenile detention center.

Ambassador Deg had been staying in the U.S., making investigations difficult. However, he entered Korea on May 28th to monitor the local elections on June 3rd. The police went to the airport directly and requested Ambassador Deg's appearance on the 29th, but he submitted a letter explaining his non-attendance and a request to recuse the investigator.

The lawsuit filed by Ambassador Mossadeg to revoke the travel ban is scheduled to be heard by Chief Judge Wi Ji-hyun of Administrative Division 1.
