The Hanwha Eagles of the professional baseball league have extended their winning streak to three games, powered by the stellar pitching of Ryu Hyun-jin, who achieved a historic milestone.
Hanwha defeated Doosan Bears 5-2 in their home game at Hanwha Life Insurance Ballpark in Daejeon on the 24th as part of the 2026 Shinhan SOL KBO League regular season.
Having swept the weekend three-game series against Doosan, Hanwha now stands at 23 wins and 24 losses, just one win away from returning to a .500 winning percentage.
Doosan fell to 22 wins, 25 losses, and 1 tie after suffering their third consecutive loss.
Hanwha's starting pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin earned his fifth win of the season (2 losses) with a strong performance, allowing 6 hits, 3 strikeouts, and 2 earned runs over 6⅔ innings.
With this win, Ryu Hyun-jin reached the milestone of 200 career wins combined in Korea and the U.S. Major League Baseball (MLB), adding his 78 MLB wins to his 122 career wins in the KBO League.

Ryu Hyun-jin is the second Korean pitcher to achieve 200 wins in a professional league, following the late Hanwha legend, left-handed pitcher Song Jin-woo (210 wins), who retired in 2009.
Ryu Hyun-jin pitched a near-perfect game through the fifth inning, allowing only one hit.
In the sixth inning, with one out, he gave up a triple to Jeong Soo-bin and an RBI single to Park Chan-ho. In the seventh inning, after recording two outs, he allowed three consecutive hits to Kang Seung-ho, Yoon Jun-ho, and Im Jong-sung, giving up an additional run.
The Hanwha lineup provided timely offensive support, lightening the ace's burden.

In the first inning, leadoff hitter Lee Won-seok hit a double to left-center field, opening the scoring. With one out and a runner on third, Moon Hyun-bin hit a sacrifice fly to bring in the first run. In the fourth inning, Yonathan Peraza hit his ninth solo home run of the season.
In the bottom of the fourth, with two outs and runners on first and second, Lee Do-yoon hit a single to right field, allowing a runner to score.
In the fifth inning, with a runner on third and no outs, Lee Won-seok hit an RBI single, followed by an RBI double from Peraza.
Hanwha, who rested their regular closer, brought in Park Sang-won as the closer in the ninth inning with a 5-2 lead.
Park Sang-won allowed three consecutive singles to load the bases with no outs, but he managed to get the next three batters out via ground balls, sealing the victory.
