Pastor Im Dong-jin is giving a support speech for candidate Hwang Kyo-ahn. [Freedom and Innovation]
Pastor Im Dong-jin, a former actor, expressed his deep emotion and support for Hwang Kyo-ahn, the leader of the Freedom and Innovation Party (former National Assembly member), running for the National Assembly in Pyeongtaek-eul, stating, "It reminded me of Admiral Yi Sun-sin's 'serving without rank' and his spirit of self-sacrifice."
Pastor Im recently took the stage for a support speech and revealed his sentiments, saying, "I was surprised when I heard the news that Representative Hwang Kyo-ahn was running in Pyeongtaek-eul."
He emphasized that this candidacy was by no means an easy choice, referring to the path Representative Hwang had taken.
Pastor Im pointed out Hwang's career, stating, "Representative Hwang served as Minister of Justice, Prime Minister, and Acting President during the impeachment of President Park Geun-hye." He added, "Even to preserve the traces of the past, running for National Assembly would have been a difficult decision," giving it special significance.
Furthermore, Pastor Im said that he saw the image of the historical hero 'Admiral Yi Sun-sin' in Representative Hwang's decision to run.
"Pyeongtaek-eul Remains for Me"... With the Spirit of Admiral Yi Sun-sin
Recalling the moment he heard about Representative Hwang's candidacy, he said, "At that moment, along with surprise, I was reminded of Admiral Yi Sun-sin, who comes to mind when thinking of 'serving without rank'," and emphasized, "This is because Representative Hwang Kyo-ahn was the first to step forward as a candidate for the National Assembly, claiming Pyeongtaek-eul as the heart of Korea."
Pastor Im Dong-jin expressed his confidence that this candidacy, where Representative Hwang is letting go of all vested interests and past honors to start anew from the ground up, will be a new leap forward and a test for the nation.
He quoted Admiral Yi Sun-sin at the Battle of Myeongnyang, saying, "'I still have 12 ships left.'" He continued, "With that same spirit, Representative Hwang Kyo-ahn, who stepped onto Pyeongtaek-eul saying, 'Pyeongtaek-eul remains for me,' has started a new endeavor for the country from this very spot with the spirit of serving without rank and the spirit of self-sacrifice," conveying his hopes and encouragement for Representative Hwang.
