This move is interpreted as an effort to dispel criticism that the company is distributing massive profits from the semiconductor supercycle as a "bonus feast" for its employees, and to strengthen its social responsibility as a leading company.
Samsung Electronics announced in a message from its presidents on the 27th, "We will invest a total of 5 trillion won over the next five years to foster a 'win-win and sound ecosystem' and 'nurture future talent'."
The presidents stated, "We will further strengthen our social responsibility so that Samsung's growth and performance can create a virtuous cycle not only for our employees but also for our society."
Specific investment plans include supporting small and medium-sized partners, particularly in the second and third tiers, establishing an industrial accident fund, expanding inclusive finance for vulnerable groups and small business owners, and promoting industry-academia cooperation and youth education for AI talent development.
The presidents added, "Specific contribution methods will be decided through discussions with the board of directors and the compliance monitoring committee. Employees, including the labor union, have also agreed to actively participate in the company's decisions."
Regarding the recent labor-management negotiations, they expressed deep gratitude for the "interest and support from the public, shareholders, customers, and employees, as well as the dedicated support efforts of the government," and apologized again for the "concerns and worries caused."
The presidents stated, "Through this occasion, we have reflected on Samsung's management philosophy of 'contributing to the nation through business' and 'people first.' We will humbly reflect deeply on labor-management relations and overall management to ensure such issues do not arise again."
They further added, "Samsung will also engage in more fundamental considerations about the role it should play in our society, taking into account the public's expectations and standards."

Roh Tae-moon, CEO and Head of Samsung Electronics' Device eXperience (DX) Division, began addressing the backlash from the DX division immediately after the negotiation settlement.
In a message to employees, President Roh said, "As the head of the division, I feel regret and responsibility for the situations where differences in business environments and market conditions lead to varying results across divisions. I am taking the current reality faced by the DX division seriously."
Under this agreement, employees of Samsung Electronics' Device Solutions (DS) division, particularly in the memory business, are expected to receive a total of 600 million won (pre-tax, based on an annual salary of 100 million won) in bonuses, combining special management performance bonuses paid in company shares and excess profit performance bonuses (OPI).
In contrast, the DX division, which is responsible for smartphones, home appliances, and TVs, is likely to receive only company shares worth approximately 6 million won. Notably, due to the slowdown in the market, there is speculation that the DX division may not receive the existing OPI or may see a reduced amount.
President Roh also expressed his intention to personally lead the recovery of the DX division's competitiveness and the reorganization of its growth foundation.
President Roh stated, "I will approach the task of recovering the DX division's competitiveness and creating a new growth momentum with greater seriousness. I will personally assess what needs to change for each business, where to focus more boldly, and what is most urgently needed on the ground."
