Former International Criminal Justice Ambassador Moisan. [Capture by Northern Illinois Univ. College of Law]
Police are pursuing a travel ban for former U.S. International Criminal Justice Ambassador Todd Moisan (Korean name, Dan Hyun-myung), Yonhap News reported.
According to Yonhap News' comprehensive reporting on the 1st, the police filed a request with the Ministry of Justice for a travel ban today, citing concerns that Professor Moisan might flee, as he has not responded to summons for questioning. A travel ban is a measure to prohibit foreigners from leaving the country.
Professor Moisan, who served as the International Criminal Justice Ambassador in the U.S. State Department during the first Trump administration, is accused of defaming Lee Jae-myung by stating that Lee was imprisoned in a juvenile detention center for a murder case during his youth.
Yonhap News reported that while Ambassador Moisan had been staying in the U.S., making investigations difficult, he entered Korea on May 28th, ahead of the June 3rd local elections, stating he would monitor and verify alleged election fraud in Korea. Consequently, the police went directly to the airport and demanded Professor Moisan appear for questioning on the 29th.
However, Ambassador Moisan did not comply and instead submitted a letter of non-attendance and a request to recuse the investigator to the police.
