On this day, June 3rd, the local election voting day, a polling station in Songpa District, which experienced a shortage of ballots, extended its voting hours until 10 PM. As of 11 PM, the vicinity of the polling station is crowded with protesting citizens.
Although voting was originally scheduled to close at 6 PM, the closing time was extended because some individuals were unable to vote due to a shortage of ballots.
However, voters eligible to cast ballots until 10 PM were limited to those who had received a waiting number. Therefore, citizens without a waiting number were unable to vote.
This led to continuous protests from citizens, resulting in a standoff with the police. The confrontation reportedly occurred when the police began collecting ballot boxes despite the presence of voters waiting to cast their ballots. With voters who had already gone home and the youth group "Free University" joining the protest, the repercussions are expected to be prolonged.
It has been identified that ballot shortages occurred at several polling stations in Songpa District, including those in Jamsil 2-dong and Garak 2-dong, in addition to Jamsil 7-dong. Ballot shortages were also reported at some polling stations in Gangnam District and Gwangjin District.
The National Election Commission stated that ballot shortages were confirmed at 12 locations in Songpa, 1 in Gangnam, and 1 in Gwangjin.
Meanwhile, Jeon Han-gil TV on YouTube broadcasted live coverage regarding ballot shortages and election fraud, featuring CEO Jeon Han-gil, lawyer Park Ju-hyun, PD Lee Young-don, Dr. Douglas Frank, and Ambassador Mostan.
Lawyer Park Ju-hyun pointed out, "We are witnessing election fraud worse than the March 15th fraudulent election of 1960, which led to the April 19th Revolution. The public must not stand idly by."
When CEO Jeon Han-gil suggested gathering in front of the National Election Commission in Gwacheon, comments flooded in, with users expressing their intent to go immediately, shouting "Dissolve the Election Commission, Out with Fraudulent Elections." Comments from rural areas also indicated a desire to "go up to Seoul."
The dam has broken. The repercussions of this June 3rd local election are expected to be significant.
