Advisor of Hankook Military-Japan Daily, Former North Korean trading company representative in the Czech RepublicI am offering these harsh words because some conservative right-wingers are pretending to be patriots by nonsensically talking about unification with North Korea, completely disregarding the dangers facing our nation today. 

Of course, it is true that the unification of North and South Korea is a long-cherished wish of our nation, desired by everyone in both Koreas. However, both North and South Korea are currently led by anti-unification forces.

On January 15, 2024, Kim Jong-un of North Korea declared at the Supreme People's Assembly that he would completely abolish the very concepts of "unification, reconciliation, and compatriots." Therefore, the greatest criminals in North Korea today are those who speak of unification. The word "unification" has also been deleted from all textbooks. 

The "United Front Department" (Tongjeonbu), which handled South Korea affairs, and the "Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland" (Jopyeongtong) have also been abolished. The "Monument to the Three Charters for National Reunification" erected by Kim Jong-il in Pyongyang has also been blown up. The name of "Unification Station" in the Pyongyang subway is being changed, and the name "Unification Street" is also being altered. North Korea does not recognize the inherent idea of North and South being one Korean people.

Then what about South Korea? The current Lee Jae-myung administration and the leftists, who are in power in the Republic of Korea, fear and dislike any form of North-South unification.

The first reason is their guilt for espionage against North Korea. The crime of joining the Workers' Party of Korea, the crime of swearing allegiance to the Kim Il-sung family, and the shameful acts committed during visits to North Korea will all be exposed to the world if unification occurs, which is why the leftists vehemently oppose unification. 

Secondly, the leftists also dislike unification because they know well that if unification under communism by North Korea occurs, all the vast wealth, luxury, and power they have illicitly accumulated will vanish in an instant. 

Therefore, today's pro-North leftists are deeply grateful to Kim Jong-un for opposing unification. This is also why individuals like Jeong Dong-young go so far as to change the name of South Korea's "Ministry of Unification" and show dog-like loyalty to Kim Jong-un. These pro-North leftists know well that their own stability depends on the longevity of the Kim Jong-un regime.

Given the political situation in both North and South, is it even reasonable for conservative right-wingers, who are too scared to even utter a word while accepting handouts from the Lee Jae-myung administration, to sit in back rooms and discuss North-South unification? What right do those who cannot even protect their own possessions have to discuss unification, or to be qualified to handle it? 

Even now, some organizations and individuals with doctorates are gathering to hold unification seminars, citing the precedent of German unification, and discussing unification costs among themselves. There are also people who gather to discuss vague ideas about opening up North Korea through civilian exchange. What right do these incompetent individuals, who couldn't even protect their own government and effectively handed the country over as a vassal state to China, have to talk about German-style unification and its costs? Is this not akin to a homeless person dreaming of delicacies and silk bedding when they have nothing? 

It is laughable that conservative right-wingers, who couldn't even address the treasonous fraudulent elections occurring on the soil of the Republic of Korea, have had their government impeached twice, had their power usurped, and were driven out of power, are now pretending to be patriots and discussing unification. Before discussing unification, conservative right-wingers are grave sinners for failing to protect their own government and plunging the country into danger.

Let me be clear. The first thing that the conservative right-wingers in South Korea should be thinking about now is not unification. The entire nation must awaken and rise up to correct the fraudulent elections and regain power at all costs. 

Instead of numerous people claiming to be conservative right-wingers constantly gathering and criticizing "this won't work" during their Taegeukgi (South Korean flag) protests, from now on, all citizens should take to the streets with the Taegeukgi and make their voices heard. Only then can we reclaim our government. After securing power, we must work with South Korea, the United States, and Japan to thoroughly clean up the nation.  

By doing so, we must cut off North Korea's lifeline to South Korean funds and simultaneously keep both doors of North-South dialogue and isolation open. Then, unification will naturally follow.
