Ministry of Justice [Yonhap News photo]
The Ministry of Justice has decided to re-administer the prosecution practice exam for law schools after allegations of unfairness arose because parts of the exam were pre-announced. The re-examination will be held on the 13th.
The Ministry of Justice stated on the 1st, "Regarding the Prosecutor's Practice 1 final exam administered on the 29th of last month, it was confirmed that during a class on 'Regulations on Crimes to Be Listed in Indictments and Non-Indictment Documents' at a certain school before the exam date, important highlighted crimes were presented to students, and some of them were actually included in the exam, deviating from the pre-agreed scope of the exam."
It is reported that professors from some of the 25 law schools nationwide presented lecture materials with highlighted crimes in fluorescent markers during their classes before the final exam, and some of these crimes were included in the actual final exam.
As this fact became known online, a controversy over unfairness arose, and the Ministry of Justice promptly decided to hold a re-examination.
The Ministry of Justice explained, "Prosecutor professors who lecture at law schools nationwide are affiliated with the Judicial Research and Training Institute and are developing lecture outlines through consultation to provide uniform lectures to all schools. In this case, the lectures deviated from the agreed-upon scope, and it was determined that this could significantly affect the fairness of the evaluation, leading to the decision for a re-examination."
It is understood that the Ministry of Justice has provisionally decided to hold the re-examination on the 13th at 7 p.m.
Students who do not take both the exam on the 29th of last month and the re-examination will receive an F grade, and those who do not take the re-examination will receive a lower score than those who do.
