Where does the aerospace industry stand in AI utilization?
(The) Global Aerospace Industry Association (President Shin Dong-chun) will hold its 17th academic seminar from 1 PM to 6 PM on the 12th at the National Aerospace Museum in Gangseo-gu, Seoul.
This event will explore the extent of digital transformation through AI utilization in the aerospace industry, under the theme "AI and the Aerospace Industry." The seminar will be attended by association members, public institutions, research institutes, universities, and companies related to the aerospace industry.
Since its establishment on October 21, 2016, the Global Aerospace Industry Association has held academic seminars twice a year on the topic of the aerospace industry. 2026 will mark the association's 10th anniversary.
Since its founding, the association has pursued the development of aerospace-related academia and industries with a pragmatic spirit. In the 10th anniversary seminar in 2026, the association plans to review its journey thus far and share its vision for a new leap forward.
This seminar will be an opportunity to discuss several issues under the main theme of "AI and the Aerospace Industry" and to empathize with the impact on the aerospace industry.
AI is the engine of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, creating a hyper-intelligent world by combining with IoT (Internet of Things), big data, cloud computing, quantum computing, and neurobiology.
The AI market is projected to surpass $300 billion in 2025 and herald a $2 trillion era by 2030. AI is more than just a tool; it enhances productivity and creates new value, but it also brings about changes in employment and ethical issues.
Furthermore, digital transformation through AI in the aerospace industry is driving innovation across the entire sector, including design and development, manufacturing and operations, autonomous flight, maintenance, customer experience and services, and supply chain management. In addition, employment reductions or new job creations are expected in various segments of the aerospace industry.
The seminar will feature presentations and discussions on △AI application in drones, △trends and outlook for autonomous weapon development, and △Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T). Application areas to be covered include presentations and discussions on △airport planning using AI and Data Science, △optimization of project management, and △analysis of global benchmarking cases.
Shin Dong-chun, president of the Global Aerospace Industry Association, stated, "The aerospace industry is a blue ocean and the future source of our livelihood. The aviation industry has already secured global competitiveness, and with the successful launch of the Naro satellite, South Korea has joined the ranks of the world's top seven space powers." He added, "This seminar holds great significance at a time when the entire nation's attention is focused on the aerospace industry. We anticipate significant participation from the general public."
