Ella Cook, 19, was identified as one of the victims who died in a shooting on the Brown University campus in Providence, Rhode Island, on Saturday the 13th. She was described as a "devout Christian" and the vice president of the university's College Republicans chapter.
The College Republicans National Committee expressed deep sorrow in an X post on Sunday, stating, "We are deeply saddened by the passing of Ella Cook, vice president of Brown University College Republicans." They added, "Ella was known for her bold courage and kind heart, serving the organization and her peers with dedication."
The conservative student group further commented, "We pray for her family, our Brown College Republicans, and the entire campus community who have been wounded by this tragedy."
White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt reposted the College Republicans' X post, saying, "This is unspeakable. My thoughts are with her family, friends, and especially her parents. God bless them."
Cook, who hailed from Birmingham, Alabama, was also a congregant at the Cathedral Church of the Advent, according to WVTM 13 Birmingham.
During a service at the Cathedral of the Advent on Sunday, a priest shared, "Many of you will have heard about the tragedy that has befallen Brown University, a shooting with multiple fatalities." He continued, "Sadly, and tragically, one of those was our congregant, Ella Cook. She was a radiant presence, incredibly real, generous, and devout." He also noted that she "had been involved in our worship and in our community."
"She had served here in the church and in the wider community," the priest stated, praising Cook as "a tremendous and bright light at Brown University as well."

Alabama Lieutenant Governor Will Ainsworth (Republican) also released a statement, saying, "Ella represented the best of Alabama – a dedicated Christian and a staunch conservative. Her bright future was cut too short. Please keep her family in your prayers for comfort."
Cook was expected to graduate from Brown University in 2028, according to her LinkedIn profile.
According to Breitbart News, a professor at Brown University stated that the attacker "shouted something" before opening fire inside the campus engineering building, resulting in two deaths and nine injuries.
Another victim identified as having died in the attack was Muhammad Aziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in Central Asia.
Umurzokov, who graduated from a high school in Midlothian, Virginia, in May, harbored dreams of becoming a neurosurgeon and was also slated to graduate from Brown University in 2029, according to his LinkedIn profile.
A man who was detained as a suspect in the shooting was scheduled to be released Sunday night. Meanwhile, NBC News reported that Brown University has canceled all remaining classes for the fall semester.
At this time, the suspect remains at large, and a search is underway as multiple agencies collect evidence and authorities investigate. Officials have not confirmed further details at this juncture.
