The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced a set of regulations on the 18th to prevent hospitals from performing various gender-related procedures on children.

The regulations prohibit surgeries, puberty blockers, and hormone therapy, with the department stating that these treatments "cause irreversible harm, including infertility, sexual dysfunction, reduced bone density, changes in brain development, and other permanent physiological effects."

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Secretary of Health and Human Services, stated, "Under my leadership, and at the request of President Trump, the federal government will make every effort to stop unsafe and irreversible practices that put our children at risk."

President Donald Trump signed an executive order early in his term directing HHS to end these practices. These practices have faced significant criticism in recent years and have led to the implementation of state-level bans nationwide.
