“Iran has emerged as the most significant global threat since World War II.” [AP=Yonhap News]
Alan Dershowitz, a Harvard Law School professor and a prominent Democratic supporter who has lived his life as a leftist, is generating significant buzz in the United States with his bipartisan statement that "Iran is the biggest threat since Hitler."
In an interview with the influential American newspaper Newsmax on the 22nd (local time), Professor Dershowitz presented an analysis stating, "Iran is the most significant global threat since World War II, and if the United States does not act, it could lead to mass destruction."
He warned, "If Iran is allowed to develop nuclear weapons, it will repeat what Hitler did, and millions will die."
Professor Dershowitz also expressed concern about Iran's growing influence through its weaponry, emphasizing that this is "the most important war we have fought since World War II" and that "all good people must participate."
He further stated bluntly, "Democrats should also be in favor of this war. But they won't be, because they prioritize partisanship over national security."
The United States is also experiencing extreme political polarization, not unlike South Korea. The Republican and Democratic parties in the U.S. go beyond mere policy disagreements, spewing hatred and distrust towards each other daily.
This political polarization is increasingly extending to voters, with supporters of each party expressing their mutual antipathy, stating they simply "dislike the other side."
Social media has played a role in the extreme political polarization seen globally. Platforms like YouTube and Facebook are more frequently used by voters to find reasons to oppose the other party and to justify intransigence, rather than as spaces to listen to and understand opposing viewpoints.
In this climate where slander and distrust towards opposing parties are escalating, Alan Dershowitz's criticism of his own party, the Democrats, for "prioritizing partisanship over national security," demonstrates the true posture of a citizen.
A true citizen is one who distinguishes between friend and foe based on constitutional values, rather than the logic of their political camp. In the face of issues that threaten the foundations of the nation, such as "election fraud allegations" or "undermining the judicial system," one must be able to voice a firm stance regardless of their party affiliation.
It is time for Democratic Party supporters to clearly recognize that the enemy we must guard against is not the opposing party, but the anti-state forces seeking to negate the South Korean system. Remaining silent about the wrongdoings of one's own side is complicity, not loyalty. If the nation we stand on collapses, no political belief will hold any meaning.
Professor Dershowitz did not stop at criticizing the Democratic Party; he also made the surprising assertion that "if President Trump had been in power in 1935-36, the Holocaust would have been prevented."
In essence, he praised Trump by saying, "The United States is currently preventing another Holocaust, a nuclear Holocaust that Iran would inflict upon Israel and Europe."

Of course, he also had sharp words for the Republican Party.
“The Republican Party must distance itself from the growing fascist neo-Nazi movement among young people, as they are a real threat to America, democracy, American Jews, Israel, and American values.”
The fascist neo-Nazi movement refers to the "far-right forces" that have re-adopted Adolf Hitler's Nazism after World War II and are characterized by racism, xenophobia, anti-Semitism, white supremacy, and extreme nationalism.
(How absurd it is to label patriotic conservatives in Korea who call for the "Yoon-Again" movement and the eradication of election fraud as far-right extremists!)
It is now time for South Korean voters to break free from the "ruling party vs. opposition party" frame and reset the battle lines to a value-centered structure of "South Korea vs. North Korea" and "Defenders of the Constitution vs. Anti-state Forces."
