White House Spokesperson Caroline Levitt [Washington AP=Yonhap News]
The White House announced on the 8th that the first armistice negotiations between the United States and Iran will be held in Islamabad, Pakistan, on the 11th (local time).
White House Spokesperson Caroline Levitt stated at a briefing that day, "I can announce that the President (Donald Trump) will dispatch a negotiation team led by Vice President JD Vance, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and (son-in-law) Jared Kushner to Islamabad."
Levitt added, "The first meeting will be held on Saturday (the 11th) local time in the morning, and we anticipate an in-person meeting."
Regarding reports that Iran has claimed a breach of the two-week armistice agreement due to Israel's attack on Lebanon and has thus re-blocked passage of vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, which was an original condition of the ceasefire, Levitt denied it, saying, "This is contrary to what they are publicly stating."
She continued, "We have confirmed that vessel traffic through the strait has increased today in private."
Levitt reiterated the President's expectations and demands, stating, "I want to emphasize again the President's expectation and demand that the Strait of Hormuz must be reopened immediately, swiftly, and safely."
