Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon's capital Beirut [AP Yonhap News]
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) strongly condemned Israel's airstrikes on Lebanon, which resumed shortly after the US-Iran ceasefire agreement, and warned of retaliation if the acts of aggression are not halted.
In a statement released on the 8th (local time), the Revolutionary Guard vehemently criticized, "Just hours after the ceasefire agreement, the Zionist wolf regime, whose nature is to kill innocent children and women, has once again begun a brutal massacre in Beirut."
It characterized Israel's military operation as a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement and a humanitarian crime. Notably, it argued that responsibility for this incident lies not only with Israel but also with the United States.
The Revolutionary Guard issued a strong warning to "the treacherous United States and their partner, the Zionist regime," emphasizing that "if the acts of aggression against Lebanon are not halted, we will inflict a severe retaliation upon the evil aggressors."
Previously, Israel had accepted the US-Iran ceasefire agreement and halted attacks on Iran, but launched extensive airstrikes on Lebanon, where Hezbollah is located, stating it was not included in the agreement.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that the airstrikes had resulted in at least 112 deaths and 837 injuries to date.
