Israeli Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi (center) visits the ground combat site with Hezbollah [Israeli Military Provided]
Amid the breakdown of the first ceasefire negotiations between the United States and Iran, major Israeli media outlets are all reporting on the Israeli military's preparations for the resumption of hostilities, drawing significant attention to the background.
On this day, Israeli media outlet Ynet reported that Herzi Halevi, the Israeli Chief of Staff, had ordered the military to "elevate its readiness level" and instructed troops to prepare for the resumption of hostilities with Iran.
Israel's three major terrestrial broadcasters, Channel 12, Channel 13, and the public broadcaster Kan, also cited military sources, reporting that the Israeli military is preparing to resume armed conflict with Iran.
Channel 12 News reported that the Israeli military is not merely preparing for the resumption of war but is also thoroughly preparing for the possibility of a surprise attack from Iran.
The public broadcaster Kan quoted a senior defense official as saying, "Israel is interested in resuming the war with Iran." The official conveyed a hardline sentiment within Israel, stating, "The war ended too soon without sufficient pressure being applied regarding Iran's nuclear program and ballistic missiles."
The Israeli military is refraining from official comment on the related reports.
In relation to this, the English-language daily Times of Israel pointed out that "this is a 'coordinated information leak' where Israeli military authorities are simultaneously releasing information through major media outlets."
Some interpret this not simply as a report on the Israeli military preparing for the resumption of war, but as Israel intentionally leaking information to the media to pressure Iran and build justification for the war.
