The 'April Regular Chamiyeon Forum', hosted by the Next Generation Future Strategy Institute (Chamiyeon), was held on the 24th at the Yangchon Building in Seocho-gu, Seoul.
This forum was organized to examine South Korea's security situation amidst rapidly changing international affairs and to engage in in-depth discussions on the recent hot topic of unification discourse. The event was divided into two parts, featuring expert presentations and discussions.
Part 1: Examining China's 'Unrestricted Warfare' and Seeking Countermeasures
Part 1, which began at 2 PM, focused on in-depth discussions themed 'China's Unrestricted Warfare (超限戰) against Korea by Sector and Our Response Strategies'.
During Part 1, presented by Han Min-ho, head of the Movement Headquarters to Inform the Truth about Confucius Institutes, speakers warned of the dangers of 'unrestricted warfare' – a strategy that neutralizes an adversary by employing not only military means but also non-military tools such as politics, economics, and culture. They diagnosed the infiltration into South Korean society and proposed practical response strategies.
Part 2: A Critical Examination of the 'Two-State Theory' and Unification Discourse
Starting at 4 PM, Part 2 discussed the direction of Korean Peninsula unification under the theme 'Unification Discourse: The Two-State Theory is National Betrayal'.
Kim Cheon-sik, former Vice Minister of Unification, delivered a presentation, pointing out the logical fallacies and dangers of the 'two-state theory' recently raised by some. He advocated for unification based on constitutional values and proposed suggestions for the national task.
A representative from Chamiyeon stated, "This forum was an opportunity to address key security and unification issues that must be considered for the establishment of South Korea's future strategy," adding, "The event concluded successfully with passionate discussions among experts in related fields."
