"If over 80% of the nation, determined to protect liberal democracy, unites, we can turn this crisis into an opportunity for a comeback." ⒸHanmi Ilbo
Professor Lee Hee-cheon, author of the recently published book "A Planned Rebellion," has issued a strong warning through his personal YouTube channel, asserting that the current constitutional amendment proposal fundamentally threatens South Korea's liberal democratic system.
Professor Lee argues that while the proposed amendments appear to embrace universal values on the surface, they secretly harbor a meticulous strategy to define the right-wing government as "deep-rooted evil" (적폐) and transition towards a socialist system.
Inclusion of May 18 Commemoration: A Basis to Label All Right-Wing Regimes as "Deep-Rooted Evil"
Regarding the inclusion of the May 18 Gwangju Uprising and the Busan-Masan Uprising in the preamble, Professor Lee expressed concern: "The moment the spirit of May 18 is established as the spirit of the constitution, it will serve as a constitutional basis to stigmatize not only the government that suppressed it but all right-wing regimes, from former presidents Rhee Syng-man, Park Chung-hee, and Chun Doo-hwan to the current Yoon Suk-yeol administration, as 'unjust regimes' that suppressed democratization."
This, he explained, is an attempt to negate the nation's legitimacy by defining South Korea's 80-year history as "a history of deep-rooted evil that should never have been born."
Strengthening Conditions for Martial Law: A Pretext for "Prosecuting President Yoon Suk-yeol for Rebellion"?
Addressing the proposed strengthening of conditions for declaring martial law, Professor Lee analyzed: "In line with the Lee Jae-myung faction's ongoing incitement to label President Yoon Suk-yeol as a rebel, this constitutional amendment aims to lay the legal groundwork for prosecuting the president for rebellion and dissolving the People Power Party as an unconstitutional organization."
He warned that if the constitutional amendment is successful, patriotic forces who have defended the liberal democratic system could tragically be branded as "anti-system elements" and purged.
Local Balanced Development Clause: A Stepping Stone for Building "Left-Wing Power at the Village Level"
Professor Lee identified the newly proposed "local balanced development" clause as the most baffling and insidious provision. He characterized it as "a mechanism to legally funnel power and funds to left-wing village activists."
He explained that the resident self-governance model promoted by the Moon Jae-in administration was a benchmark of the Venezuelan Chávez regime's village organizations. "If this clause is enshrined in the constitution, the left-wing will seize control of the governance, economy, and education in towns and villages, completing a one-party dictatorial system that permanently controls voters," he predicted.
"Don't Fall for the Salamis Tactic... Let's Declare a War for System Defense"
Professor Lee defined the current situation as a "systemic war that will determine the fate of South Korea" and proposed the following countermeasures.
First, he called for political unity. He emphasized that the People Power Party must not be deceived by the opposing side's "salami tactic (slicing strategy)" of "let's only change what has been agreed upon," and must realize that agreeing to constitutional amendments is an act of self-destruction.
Second, a nationwide resistance movement is necessary. He urged free and patriotic citizens to suspend all their livelihoods temporarily and dedicate their full efforts to opposing the constitutional amendment, and to inform allied nations like the United States of this conspiracy.
Third, he stressed the need to break free from the "rebellion frame" orchestrated by the left and transform this fight into a systemic war that decides "whether to defend the liberal democratic constitution or transition to socialism."
Finally, Professor Lee strongly urged the public to awaken, using his book "A Planned Rebellion" as a guide, stating, "The moment a single word or phrase changes, South Korea can collapse like Hong Kong."
He reiterated, "If over 80% of the nation, determined to protect liberal democracy, unites, we can turn this crisis into an opportunity for a comeback."
