This June 3rd local election has seen more suspected instances of election fraud than ever before. On election day, the 3rd, a large number of ballots with the perforated serial numbers still attached were found during the ballot counting process at a polling station in Mundeok-dong, Nam-gu, Pohang, Gyeongbuk Province.

An observer present at the main counting immediately lodged an objection, took photos, and reported the incident to the police.

According to the objection, more than a total of 30 ballots with un-perforated serial numbers were found at the counting site on the 3rd, including ballots for the Pohang mayoral election, the superintendent of education election, and the Gyeongbuk provincial governor election. The counting observer has requested the Nam-gu Election Commission in Pohang to investigate the cause through a police investigation.

Meanwhile, Hwang Kyo-ahn, leader of the Freedom and Innovation Party and head of the Anti-Fraud and Anti-Corruption Task Force, stated that this election was a "carefully planned, power-driven election manipulation crime" and declared the June 3rd election null and void from the outset.

In response, many voters have gathered in front of the National Election Commission in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province, since the night of the 3rd and are continuing their rallies and protests to this day, the 4th.
