The issue of fraud targeting federal funds was not confined to Minnesota. Allegations of rampant fraud, waste, and mismanagement in California during Governor Gavin Newsom's (Democrat) tenure are drawing attention.

Newsmax reported on Tuesday (23rd) on a 92-page audit report recently released by the California State Auditor on "American Agenda." The report states that eight state government agencies have been placed on a high-risk list for alleged fraud, mismanagement, and waste.

The report's extensive implications are expected, given that the Auditor's Office is a politically non-partisan agency. Notably, President Donald Trump shared the broadcast footage on Truth Social, adding, "This is crazy! New report says California spent up to $76.5 billion dollars in Fraudulent Spending."

Rep. Kevin Kiley (Republican-California) stated on Newsmax that California has become "the fraud capital of America."

Among the audited programs in the report was CalFresh, California's food stamp program. Auditors warned that California could face an additional cost of up to $2.5 billion under federal regulations if it fails to control improper payments.

It is reported that as much as $32 billion in COVID-19 pandemic relief funds were due to fraudulent claims.

Infrastructure spending, including California's high-speed rail project, has already incurred costs of approximately $18 billion, with critics claiming that not a single segment of the track has been completed.

Furthermore, California has allocated a budget of $24 billion to address homelessness, but questions are being raised about how those funds were tracked and utilized, Newsmax reported.

In an investigation related to California's 911 emergency system, which was funded for years through a surcharge on mobile phone bills, the state government ultimately scrapped the system and started over from scratch, despite spending approximately $650 million, according to the broadcast.

Rep. Kiley told Newsmax, "After spending $650 million on that system, the state government completely discarded it and started over from scratch. That money was a complete waste because the technology did not work."
