Citizen journalists and activists are shining a spotlight on potential Somali fraud involving taxpayer-funded money, not just in Minnesota but in several states across the country.
Videos taken in Ohio, Maine, Pennsylvania, and Washington suggest that Somali communities in various parts of the nation are replicating the taxpayer fraud claims that citizen journalist Nick Shirley exposed at a Minnesota daycare center.
For instance, in Washington state, X user Carleen Johnson noted discovering a home registered as a daycare center in Federal Way, Washington, but found no children present when she visited to inquire:
Furthermore, a social media user with the TikTok handle @theoldermillennial exposed that Somalis have registered a staggering 539 daycare centers in Washington state. He pointed out that if these daycare centers receive even minimal state funding, it equates to $755 million in state taxes going down the drain annually:
Breitbart News shared these posts, noting that several other individuals are raising similar questions about these facilities in Washington state:

Amidst these questionable circumstances, Seattle's newly elected left-leaning Mayor, Kate Wilson, has further strengthened her support for the city's Somali population:
A Seattle radio host also reminded his followers that Minnesota's Governor Tim Walz had attended a fundraiser in Washington state and pledged to bring more Somalis into the country:
Washington state doesn't seem to be the only state embroiled in daycare fraud. This week, social media has been flooded with posts from other citizen journalists raising questions in Ohio.
One young man was seen outside a registered daycare in Ohio's capital, Columbus, with no children reportedly present at the location:
Another Ohio resident looked up registered daycare locations in Ohio on Google Maps, but the images did not appear to show legitimate daycare operations:
More questionable activities are underway in Ohio:
Then came the campaign finance records, which show thousands of dollars in donations from Somali organizations to Democratic politicians in Ohio:
State Representative Josh Williams (R), from Sylvania Township, has called for an investigation into facilities, particularly in the Columbus area, citing multiple instances of fraud, including billing the state for children who are not actually attending daycare programs funded by public money.
"What's happening in Minnesota is almost certainly happening in Columbus," Williams stated. "Ohio must use every authority at its disposal to stop this."
Questions are also being raised in other states, including Pennsylvania and Maine:
Finally, many on social media are recalling Minnesota's Governor Tim Walz's promise during his 2024 vice-presidential bid, when he debated Vice Presidential candidate J.D. Vance, to make it easier for citizens to receive tax-funded childcare subsidies:
