President Donald Trump on Wednesday fiercely condemned a shooting in Minneapolis during an immigration enforcement operation that left a driver dead and federal agents injured, calling it an act of violence by the "radical left" in a post on his Truth Social platform.

“I just watched the video of what happened in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It’s a terrible video,” Trump said, sharing a portion of ABC News footage.

“The woman who was screaming was clearly a professional agitator, and the woman driving the car was acting very violently, obstructing justice and resisting, and deliberately and brutally rammed her car into an ICE officer,” he stated.

“The ICE officer apparently shot her in self-defense,” Trump continued, “and it’s hard to believe he survived, but he’s recovering at the hospital right now,” adding that the incident was still under investigation.

Trump linked the incident to daily threats and assaults against federal agents, writing, “These things are happening because the radical left is constantly threatening and assaulting and targeting our law enforcement and ICE officers every single day.”

Local Democratic politicians have been vocal in calling for ICE to leave Minnesota, claiming the agency is terrorizing residents and disrupting public safety.

Recently, a hotel sparked national controversy by canceling and refusing reservations for ICE agents on official business.

Trump urged Americans to “support and defend our law enforcement officers” from the “radical left movement that is promoting violence and hatred,” emphasizing that agents are simply doing their jobs to "make America safe."

Federal authorities stated that the shooting occurred in a Minneapolis residential area during an enforcement operation by ICE and other federal agencies.

In a statement, DHS spokeswoman Trisha McLaughlin said the driver attempted to run over law enforcement officers and called the shooting an act of "domestic terrorism."

McLaughlin said the ICE officer fired in defense because he "felt his life, and the lives of his fellow officers and citizens, were under threat" and that "he acted as he was trained to do to save his life and the lives of his fellow officers."

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said at a press conference that ICE officers approached the woman, who was in a vehicle blocking the road.

According to O’Hara, video shows at least two shots fired after the vehicle started moving and collided with an officer.

O’Hara identified the deceased suspect as a 37-year-old white woman who was shot in the head.

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, during a visit to Texas, called the incident an act of "domestic terrorism" targeting ICE employees.

“One of our officers shot quickly and defensively to protect himself and those around him,” Nielsen said, adding that the woman attempted to run over police officers.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey vehemently denounced the federal explanation, dismissing the Department of Homeland Security's account of the shooting as a "false narrative."

Frey told reporters that police are trying to "frame this as self-defense," and after watching the video, said, "That doesn't make any sense."

The mayor used expletives and called for ICE to "get the hell out of Minneapolis." He went on to rally citizens to "unite for hope, for love, for peace, and for justice."

The situation comes as law enforcement agencies are launching a full-scale investigation into what they say is rampant corruption and immigration fraud in Minnesota.

The Twin Cities area has been on edge since the Department of Homeland Security announced it would begin a large-scale operation Tuesday expected to involve about 2,000 agents and officers in Minneapolis and St. Paul.

The location is about a mile from the intersection where George Floyd died during an arrest in 2020, an incident that made Minneapolis the center of nationwide protests and debate over police use of force.

“We must protect our law enforcement officers from this radical left violence and hatred!” Trump emphasized.
