New footage has revealed that Alex Pretti, 37, a Minnesota resident who was shot and killed by federal immigration agents last weekend, had a physical altercation with agents approximately 11 days prior, during which he kicked and broke the taillights of their vehicle as they departed after completing their mission.
The video, filmed by a media outlet called The News Movement, captures the scuffle that occurred on January 13. According to NBC News, a family representative confirmed Pretti's appearance in the video, stating that the family was unaware of the incident until after it occurred.
The incident took place as agents were leaving an intersection they had blockaded in Minneapolis that morning.
The video shows Pretti yelling at federal immigration agents and kicking the rear of their vehicle, breaking the taillights. It is unclear what transpired before that incident, according to NBC reports.
According to the released footage, after Pretti broke the vehicle's taillights, agents exited their vehicle, approached him, and attempted to subdue him. He repeatedly yelled "F*** you" and gave them the middle finger with both hands.
The video appears to show a handgun concealed on Pretti's lower back. However, there is no indication in the footage that he attempted to draw the weapon.
Greg Jarrett, a legal analyst for Fox News, stated in an interview with Sean Hannity on Wednesday the 28th, regarding the footage, "He was a violent individual who engaged in a fit of rage. Spitting at a police officer is assault, and clearly attacking a federal vehicle and destroying property, plus apparently resisting arrest to some degree, that tells you his mindset."
Jarrett added, "Customs and Border Patrol tried to stop the protesters, and this guy inserts himself and resists arrest. He's committing crimes all over the place."
Meanwhile, Steve Schlehuber, an attorney for Pretti's family, said in a statement to Fox News, "Nothing that happened a week ago can justify Alex being killed at the hands of an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent on January 24."
