Former U.S. President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton, the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee, are slated to testify in congressional investigations into the sex-trafficking case of the late Jeffrey Epstein, a source said on the 2nd (local time).
This decision could derail a planned vote in the Republican-led House of Representatives to censure the two prominent Democrats for contempt of Congress, which could lead to criminal charges.
The House Oversight Committee recommended last week that they be punished for contempt of Congress for refusing to testify about their ties to Epstein.
The Clintons offered to cooperate with the investigation committee, but refused to appear in person, calling the probe a biased attempt to protect Republican President Donald Trump.

Angel Urena, a spokesperson for the Clintons, said in a post on X (formerly Twitter): "They have negotiated in good faith, but you have not. They have sworn to tell what they know, but you do not care. But the former president and former secretary of state will attend. They hope this will set a precedent for everyone."
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) welcomed the news but declined to comment on whether the House would withdraw the scheduled contempt of Congress vote.
He said, "This is good news," adding, "We expect everyone to respond to a congressional subpoena."
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) said concerns remain about the so-called agreement.
He said in a statement on Monday: "The Clintons' attorneys have stated that they agree to the terms of the agreement, but those terms are once again unclear and have not presented a schedule for their testimony. The only reason they agreed to the terms of the agreement is that the House proceeded with the contempt proceedings. I will discuss future actions with committee members after clarifying the terms they agree to."
Bill Clinton used Epstein's private jet multiple times in the early 2000s after leaving office. He has expressed regret over his relationship with Epstein and stated that he was unaware of his criminal activities.

Meanwhile, a video circulating on social media recently claims that Bill Clinton threatened to impose "discriminatory lending" charges on large banks if they refused to approve subprime mortgages in order to gain votes in elections, which led to the 2008 financial crisis.
This raises concerns that the Epstein-related issue could expand beyond moral failings to other charges, drawing significant attention.
