Despite the freezing temperatures in Washington D.C. on the 7th (local time), the premiere of the film ‘Legacy of the Battlefield’ was a great success, with a large turnout of expatriates, Americans, and reporters.
Jenny Park, a senior reporter for ‘USA Journal Korea’ who has White House press credentials, reported on the Washington screening of ‘Legacy of the Battlefield’ in both English and Korean.
She described the film as one that “awakens pride in America and the U.S. military, while clearly conveying America’s pride and the reasons for defending global freedom.”
She added, “It also illustrates why the ‘peace through strength’ that the United States repeatedly emphasizes is important.”
In an interview with reporter Jenny Park, Director Kim Chae-young, who helmed the film, stated, “At a time when communist forces seeking to destroy liberal democracy are lurking like crying lions around the world, I decided to produce this film to strengthen the ROK-U.S. alliance and defend the global free system.”
He also mentioned his intention to “submit this film to U.S. President Donald Trump and the Pentagon, the supreme center of security.”
According to the report, “The film ‘Legacy of the Battlefield’ is exceptionally helpful for educating and enlightening soldiers who still do not fully understand the Korean War. The United States and South Korea became blood allies through the Korean War, and through the mutual defense treaty, they made a promise that the U.S. would intervene and help Korea in case of a contingency on the Korean Peninsula, making their relationship closer than any other alliance.”
Furthermore, “As seen in the film, many ROK and U.S. soldiers, and UN forces lost their lives due to the massive intervention of Chinese forces during the Korean War, which was launched by a surprise attack from North Korea. At the ‘Korean War Veterans Memorial’ across from the State Department building in Washington D.C., a monument stands with the names of numerous U.S. veterans engraved on it. They are heroes who left behind a noble legacy of sacrifice for freedom and country,” he stated.
The report explained the reasons why ‘Legacy of the Battlefield’ is a must-watch: “First, it is essential for our soldiers and the citizens of free democratic countries to understand why the U.S. had to intervene in the Korean War. Second, why the current 28,500 U.S. troops stationed in Korea need to remain. And third, why the ROK-U.S. alliance is absolutely necessary.”
Meanwhile, following its Washington screening, the film ‘Legacy of the Battlefield’ placed a full-page advertisement in the Korea Times U.S. edition in anticipation of its LA screening on the 10th (local time).
