U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN) stated during a town hall meeting on the 18th (local time) that the Democratic Party is planning not only to abolish U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) but also to dismantle the entire Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
At the town hall, Representative Omar told the audience, "Compared to six or seven years ago when I first set foot in Congress, the atmosphere is much more conducive to discussing what to do with ICE—namely, its abolition."
She also added, "Discussions are actively underway regarding what the dissolution of the Department of Homeland Security should look like."

The specific details of the Democratic Party's discussions regarding the dismantling of the Department of Homeland Security have not been disclosed.
According to Breitbart News, these remarks by Representative Omar follow weeks of mounting resistance led by her and other Democratic officials, such as Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, against the routine operations of U.S. law enforcement agencies.
Notably, even though ICE has existed since 2003 and its enforcement actions are not a new phenomenon, Democrats have, under the Trump administration, incited people to believe that obstructing law enforcement is a form of resistance against a "fascist" regime, Breitbart reported.
Breitbart News pointed out that in Democratic-controlled Minnesota, not only are far-left mobs allowed to attack federal law enforcement officers from ICE, but elected officials like Walz and Omar are openly fueling these attacks through fear-mongering rhetoric.
Last month, Governor Walz, who was defeated alongside Vice President-elect JD Vance in the 2024 presidential election, threatened to mobilize the Minnesota National Guard against federal law enforcement agencies, instilling fear in millions of citizens across the country by warning them, "You're next."
The governor urged people across the U.S. to "join us in standing up against this," stating, "To the American people watching this broadcast, whether you are in Portland, Los Angeles, Chicago, or wherever you are, they are next."
