Record snowfall has caused at least two deaths in the northeastern United States, left about 700,000 households without power, and led to the cancellation of over 10,000 flights.
According to Fox Weather, two people died on Sunday afternoon when a tree fell on their vehicle near Sunderland, Maryland, as northeasterly winds blew.
The Calvert County Sheriff's Office stated on Monday that a third occupant trapped in the vehicle was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Additionally, the Maryland State Police reported on Monday via an X post that "over 1,190 traffic accident reports were received and 343 responses were made during this snowstorm," adding that "approximately 30% of the reports were from the Eastern Shore region, with a total of 334 reports."
Approximately 675,000 households in the northeastern United States have lost power. Delaware has declared a state of emergency, with over 100 roads blocked by debris.
Hurricane-force winds of 50-75 mph (approximately 80-120 km/h) combined with wet snow battered the affected areas, causing power outages.
Over 10,700 flights were canceled across the United States from Sunday to Tuesday, with over 22,000 flight disruptions.
TF Green International Airport in Providence, Rhode Island, received 32.8 inches (approximately 82.5 cm) of snow, significantly surpassing the previous record for a single snowstorm in Providence's history of 28.6 inches (approximately 71.5 cm) set in 1978.
The exceptional snowfall occurred as the storm's peak intensity hit Kent County and Providence County, with accumulations of over 3 inches of snow per hour at times, completely paralyzing Rhode Island's main transportation hubs.
Central Park in New York City saw 19.7 inches of snow accumulation, accompanied by winds of up to 55 mph, making it the ninth-largest snowstorm in Central Park's history.
Several cities and counties in the northeastern United States have implemented, extended, and/or lifted travel bans that were in effect due to the heavy snowfall.
