U.S. President Donald Trump announced on the 28th (local time) that Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has died.
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social that day, President Trump stated, "Khamenei, one of the most evil people in history, is dead."
Khamenei died during large-scale military strikes against Iran, conducted by the United States and Israel on this day.
President Trump emphasized, "This is justice not only for the Iranian people but for all great Americans and the many people around the world who have been killed or maimed by Khamenei and his bloodthirsty gang of thugs."
President Trump said, "He could not escape our intelligence capabilities and highly sophisticated tracking systems. In close cooperation with Israel, there was nothing he or any other leader killed with him could do," he said.
President Trump declared Khamenei's death as "the one great opportunity for the Iranian people to take back their country."
He continued, warning, "We are hearing that many in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the military, and the security and police forces no longer want to fight and are seeking immunity from us. You can get immunity now, but later you will only get death." This is interpreted as an appeal for the surrender of the Iranian military and police.
President Trump said, "We hope the IRGC and the police will peacefully join the patriots of Iran and work together to restore the country to the greatness it deserves."
President Trump pointed out, "The process must begin soon. Not only Khamenei is dead, but the country was greatly destroyed in a single day and was almost annihilated."
However, he stated, "The powerful and precise bombing will continue without interruption throughout this week, or as long as necessary to achieve the goal of peace in the Middle East and the world."
