U.S. President Donald Trump claimed on the 3rd (local time) that the United States' ammunition stockpile for military operations against Iran is at an all-time high and that it can sustain war indefinitely with it.
President Trump wrote on his social media (SNS) Truth Social on this day, "We have an unlimited supply of intermediate and advanced weapons," adding, "The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) article is wrong, and it's shameful."
The WSJ article that President Trump referred to was published the previous day. In the article, the WSJ reported that the U.S.'s stockpile of ammunition, including air defense interceptor missiles and sea-launched Tomahawk cruise missiles, is dwindling, potentially limiting President Trump's options in the event of a prolonged conflict. However, President Trump strongly denied this report.
President Trump then reposted a Truth Social post he had made late the previous night.
In this post, President Trump stated, "The U.S.'s stockpile of intermediate to advanced ammunition has never been better. According to what I was briefed on today, we have virtually an unlimited supply of these weapons."
He emphasized, "With this stockpile alone, which is superior to the top-tier weapons of other countries, we can wage war indefinitely and very successfully."
Regarding the stockpile of top-tier weapons (or ammunition), President Trump indicated some concerns by stating, "We have a good stockpile, but it's not at the level we want," while also adding, "Many additional advanced weapons are stockpiled in foreign countries."
He then criticized his predecessor, former President Joe Biden, for freely giving top-tier weapons to Ukraine without taking steps to replenish them. "Fortunately, I rebuilt our military in my first term and am continuing to do so. America has stockpiled (ammunition) and is ready to win big," he said.
