Senator John Fetterman (D-Pa.) stated on the "On the Issues" podcast that while the Democratic Party lacks leadership, it is currently being "run by TDS."
"TDS" is an acronym for Trump Derangement Syndrome, a term frequently used by Trump's opponents to express strong opposition to the president.

During the podcast, David Freedberg asked Fetterman, "Who do you think is leading the Democratic Party today?"
Fetterman responded, "We don't have that kind of group. It's TDS that is running the show, and our party is being run by TDS."
He is currently the only Democratic senator to strongly support the U.S. military operation against Iran, "Operation Epic Fury."

"I'm the only Democrat that is saying it's a fantastic thing to end the regime in Iran and destroy them, and hold them accountable. It's totally appropriate," Fetterman said.
Later in the podcast, Fetterman reiterated his point, saying, "You asked earlier who the current leader of the Democratic Party is, and my answer to you is TDS."
Fetterman said that if Trump "went out and got ice cream, or he enjoyed a lazy Sunday, the Democrats would suddenly hate it, and we'd want to vote to not let him do that."
Fetterman has been a strong supporter of Israel throughout his career, which has often drawn criticism from pro-Palestinian Democrats.

In a post on X on Monday, he wrote, "As a Democrat, I am deeply proud to stand with Israel as they endure the horrific events of October 7. I am incredibly proud of our armed forces and their achievements in Operation 'Epic Fury.' It is never wrong to put country over party."
In January, he had called on former President Trump to immediately fire Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen, claiming that Trump had granted his request and that he would vote for Senator Markwayne Mullin to be the new secretary. He also stated that he would vote to de-escalate and reopen the Department of Homeland Security in a Senate vote on Friday.
