Israeli residential area in Tel Aviv destroyed by Iranian missile [AP Yonhap News]
Iran has launched more than 400 ballistic missiles since beginning its retaliatory attacks targeting the United States and Israel, AFP reported on the 22nd (local time).
According to foreign media, Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani, spokesman for the Israeli military, told reporters on the same day that approximately 92% of the more than 400 ballistic missiles launched by Iran since the start of the war have been intercepted. He also assessed the interception rate as "very high."
Iran is responding to pressure, including warnings of attacks on U.S. power generation facilities and the possibility of ground troop deployment, by increasing missile range and advancing its drone capabilities.
Yesterday, Iran launched a missile attack on Dimona, a city in Israel with nuclear facilities. Approximately 30 people were injured in this attack, and at least 59 people were injured in the town of Arad, located 25 km to the northeast.
On the 20th, ballistic missiles were fired at the Diego Garcia joint British-U.S. military base in the Indian Ocean, 4,000 km from the Iranian mainland. This marks the first confirmation of a medium-range ballistic missile launch with a range of 4,000 km from Iran, which had previously limited its missile range to 2,000 km.
Foreign media analyzed that this means major Western European cities such as London and Paris could fall within Iran's attack range.
The Iranian military announced today that it attacked Israel's logistics hub, Ben Gurion Airport, with "Arash-2," a drone with enhanced destructive power compared to existing models.
