U.S. President Donald Trump said on the 28th (local time) that while talks with Iran are progressing well, he reiterated his threat to destroy key infrastructure such as bridges and power plants if no deal is reached.

In a telephone interview with Fox News that morning, President Trump stated, "Iran might say they haven't come out to discuss nuclear issues, but that is the entirety of our discussion, because they will never have nuclear weapons and they know it," adding, "And we have had very good conversations."

President Trump warned, "I think we are in a very strong position right now," and added, "They (Iran) know that if they don't make a deal, I will (take action). Bridges would literally be gone in less than an hour. Most of them, the major bridges, would all be gone in two hours, and power plants would be gone in a day."

"I would like to avoid doing that if I can. Power plants are the hardest to build, and bridges take the longest to construct," he said, once again pressuring Iran to reach an agreement.

However, President Trump noted that he would not attack Iran's seawater desalination plants. He said, "That would hurt the residents. I don't intend to do anything like that."

President Trump expressed displeasure toward Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding reports that the Prime Minister would visit the White House that day to share intelligence on the situation at Fordow, an Iranian site targeted by Trump’s threats.

"Bibi doesn't need to tell me things like that. He’s saying that because he wants me to stay involved," President Trump said. "Why doesn't he just talk to me instead of broadcasting it to the whole world?" Bibi is the nickname for Prime Minister Netanyahu.

He added, "I know exactly what is happening at Fordow. It’s not a big problem," and continued, "We have eliminated their nuclear facilities. If there is no deal, Fordow will have to be eliminated as well."

Fordow is suspected to be Iran's new underground nuclear facility. It appears that President Trump perceives that Prime Minister Netanyahu, who does not want the war to end, is conducting a public relations campaign by highlighting the need for additional strikes on the Fordow site.

President Trump also remarked, "Honestly, if I weren't the U.S. President, Israel wouldn't exist today."

Regarding his tariff policy, President Trump claimed, "It is regrettable that I have to take a more difficult path after the Supreme Court ruled against us by a narrow margin. I have other means to do exactly the same thing; it is a bit more cumbersome, but tariffs have brought wealth to the United States."

After the Supreme Court ruled reciprocal tariffs illegal last February, the Trump administration recently finalized "forced labor tariffs" on 60 economic entities following an investigation based on Section 301 of the Trade Act. It is also investigating "overproduction tariffs" against 16 other economic entities.
