Bridge collapses 13 years after completion; intensive inspection of design, construction, and management under way

The Donghae Regional Coast Guard and the National Forensic Service are conducting a joint inspection on the 3rd, focusing on the cause of the collapse as well as overall issues regarding design, construction, and facility management and supervision.
Based on the results of the inspection, the Coast Guard plans to determine whether any illegal activities occurred and will proceed with an investigation by booking relevant individuals if necessary.
The Donghae Coast Guard and the National Forensic Service announced that they began their joint on-site inspection at the Boritdol Bridge in Guryongpo-eup, Nam-gu, Pohang-si, this afternoon.
They are examining the site and investigating the cause of the accident.
